GREENVILLE - An Upstate woman has been sentenced to 18 years in prison in the shooting death of her live-in boyfriend.
The Greenville News reported that Donna Redding pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced Thursday. She had faced a murder charge in the death of 52-year-old Gary Dean Parnell.
Prosecutors said Redding and Parnell had spent the day doing meth on April 6, 2008, before they began arguing. They said Redding grabbed a shotgun and shot the man in the stomach, then ran outside yelling that God told her to do it.
Parnell was dead at the scene.
