Authorities are looking for the mother of an infant born at a South Carolina hospital with cocaine and marijuana in its system.
The 29-year-old mother checked into a Rock Hill hospital under a false name. She gave birth Tuesday night and left the next morning without her baby.
The state Department of Social Services took custody of the infant on Friday.
Rock Hill Police Lt. Brad Redfearn said the mother left the child in a safe place, so she can't be charged with abandonment. But she can be charged with neglect because of the drugs.
