The family of Columbia resident the Rev. Tryon Eichelberger, who was killed a home invasion earlier this year, is holding a musical celebration of his life this Saturday to raise money that will go for a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of his killer. The event, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature musical groups including Harp and the Soul Disciples and be held at the W.G. Sanders Middle School Theater, 3455 Pine Belt on Two Notch Road. Eichelberg, 87, a widower, was assaulted in his Isaac Street home on the night of May 3 and was severely beaten on the head with a six-pound metal bar. He died in July at Palmetto Richland without regaining consciousness.
Police have few leads in the case. - John Monk
