Taking down your holiday tree this weekend? Consider dropping it off for "recycling" as part of the Grinding of the Greens program.
The program runs through Friday at the following locations: Seven Oaks Park, 200 Leisure Lane, any time;Crooked Creek Park, 1098 Old Lexington Highway, Chapin, 7:30 a.m.-11 p.m.; Clemson Institute for Economic & Community Development, 900 Clemson Road, any time; Fort Jackson Recycling Center - Building #6568 on Lee Road, Fort Jackson, any time; city of Columbia compost facility, 121 Humane Lane, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.; Richland County C&D Landfill, 1070 Caughman Road North, 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. weekdays, 12:30-5:30 p.m. Saturdays; Richland County Lower Richland drop-off center, 10531 Garners Ferry Road, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 12:30-6 p.m. Sundays; Hollow Creek Tree Farm, 228 Windmill Road, Gilbert; any time; Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church, 5508 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, any time; Lexington County C&D Landfill, 498 Landfill Lane, Lexington, 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
Free mulch will be available this Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. until mulch runs out, at Clemson Institute for Economic & Community Development, 900 Clemson Road, and at Seven Oaks Park, 200 Leisure Lane.
