John Muldrow of Bishopville, the former director of Lee County Public Works, was indicted Thursday and charged with one count of embezzling county funds.
The indictment alleges that from January to May, Muldrow, 39, converted county property valued at more than $5,000 to his personal use.
William Nettles, U.S. Attorney for South Carolina, said the maximum penalty Muldrow could receive is up to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
