Dave Rogers, who worked for years in Columbia and Florence as a television and radio personality, weatherman and announcer, died Wednesday after a battle with cancer. He was 81
Rogers, known for his deep voice and curly hair, worked for WIS-TV for 13 years in the 1970s and 1980s, where he would occasionally fill in on the Mr. Knozit Show, adopting the character of “Uncle Dave.” In the 1990s he did the morning weather broadcasts for WVOC radio.
Visitation is from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington. Other arrangements are pending.
