Two teenagers died following a crash Monday near Kershaw, Highway Patrol officials said.
The one-car crash happened just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Phillipstown Road and Fork Hill Road, said Sgt. Kelly Hughes of the patrol.
Hughes said the car was traveling southbound on Phillipstown Road when it crossed over Fork Hill Road, running past a stop sign. The car struck an embankment and overturned, he said.
Two teens, the 17-year-old driver of the 2004 Mazda from Kershaw and his passenger, a 16-year-old from Heath Springs, died. Their names were not immediately available.
The passenger was first airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland. Both teens were wearing seat belts, Hughes said.
The crash remains under investigation.
