In the NCAA regional in Columbia, the South Carolina baseball team will play host to Stetson, N.C. State and Georgia Southern.
Regional top seed USC will play fourth-seeded Georgia Southern (36-24), the Southern Conference champion, in the first round Friday, while second-seeded Stetson (41-18) will play third-seeded N.C. State (34-25).
The Gamecocks (45-14) also received the No. 4 national seed, which guarantees an NCAA Super Regional at Carolina Stadium if they advance through regional play. They would play the winner of the Clemson regional (which has Clemson vs. Sacret Heart and Coastal Carolina vs. UConn).
The top eight overall seeds are (1) Virginia; (2) Florida; (3) North Carolina, (4) South Carolina; (5) Florida State; (6) Vanderbilt; (7) Texas; and (8) Rice.
Game times for the Columbia regional are still to be announced.
This will be USC's 27th appearance in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament and the 13th time in school history the Gamecocks will host an NCAA Regional in baseball.
