Midlands residents have a new site to drop off donations to Harvest Hope Food Bank.
Beginning Thursday, the food bank will have a stall space at the State Farmer’s Market, 3483 Charleston Highway in West Columbia, and will collect donations of fresh produce from local farmers and wholesale warehouses.
Donors can drop off produce at designated shed stalls from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Signs will be posted showing where the donations should be made.
“This is a great way for farmers and market vendors to participate in bringing a harvest of hope to the community,” said Hugh Weathers, state commissioner of agriculture. “We are delighted to play a small role in this effort to get food where it is needed most.”
