While hundreds of runners were preparing for the Columbia Marathon Friday, Dean Schuster was running the Antarctica Marathon.
Schuster, the Midlands resident who ran the Governor’s Cup Half-Marathon in a penguin suit last year, posted this entry on Facebook Saturday: “Antarctica marathon complete. Course was brutally hilly. 30-40 knot wind gusts. Horizontal, biting snow in one section. Unofficial results puts my finish time at 4:17, good enough for 7th place. Still trying to thaw out my fingers.”
Schuster also raised more than $25,000 for penguin research on his way to a goal of $30,000. Check out his website: www.runningwithpenguins.com for more details.
