Tracy Hegler has been named Richland County’s new planning director.
Hegler most recently was a senior transportation planner in the private sector, working in the Lexington office of Hall Planning & Engineering Inc. Previously she worked for the Florida Space Authority.
She earned a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from Florida State University after graduating from USC with a bachelor’s in sociology, according to a statement provided by the county. She starts work Monday and will be paid $79,000 a year. Hegler replaces Anna Almeida Fonseca, who resigned in September.
