Solicitor Dan Johnson has awarded nearly $100,000 to Richland and Kershaw counties as part of a recent court settlement.
In 2008, the state’s solicitors took mortgage broker Lending Tree to court to prosecute the company for failure to comply with state disclosure laws. In a Tuesday news release, Johnson said the company paid over $3 million as part of a settlement.
Johnson has received $95,267.84 for Richland County and $16,811.97 for Kershaw County, the two counties covered by the 5th circuit solicitor’s office.
A Richland County spokeswoman said a use for the money has not been designated.
