Work on a pedestrian bridge has lead to the closure of Sumter Street between Wheat and Catawba Streets starting Thursday.
According to the Columbia Department of Utilities and Engineering, vehicular traffic will be detoured to protect pedestrians displaced by the maintenance and repair work on the bridge. Drivers are urged to follow the detour signs.
The closure is expected to last about two weeks.
