City of Columbia employees with children will be given two hours off to take their children to school on the first day of the new school year, the city announced Friday.
The city has 2,300 employees. The number with school-age children is not readily available.
This is the third year the city has extended the privilege to its workers. Mayor Steve Benjamin said allowing working parents to participate in the annual event helps children and parents “start this year with energy, eager to learn and feeling our support and our love.”
