The closing of two lanes on Interstate 77 through Saturday for construction work has already slowed traffic to a crawl in the area.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation announced Friday that the right travel lane and the shoulder of southbound I-77 will be closed between Two Notch Road and Windsor Lake between 12 p.m., Friday and and 8 a.m., Saturday.
Traffic is being shifted because the pavement of the outside shoulder failed when traffic was redirected previously to work on a different lane, the agency stated. A contractor will have to replace 1,200 feet of roadway to repair the outside lane and shoulder.
SCDOT is reporting traffic in the area is flowing at less than 15 mph.
Never miss a local story.
