Four people remain hospitalized at two Midlands locations following Sunday’s fatal train wreck in Cayce.
Palmetto Health reported Tuesday that two people remain under care in their hospitals. That’s a continued improvement.
Palmetto Health hospitals had received 62 patients, 59 of them adults and three of them children at multiple locations. That means 60 patients have been discharged.
One of the patients remaining in Palmetto Health’s care, one is listed in serious condition, according to Media Relations Manager Tammie Epps. The other patient has been deemed to be in good condition.
As of Tuesday, two people involved in the crash remain hospitalized at Lexington Medical Center.
Both patients are listed in stable condition, according to Media Relations Manager Jennifer Wilson, who said one of the patients could soon be discharged.
Lexington Medical Center originally received 27 patients who were in the crash.
There were eight crew members and approximately 139 passengers on board in the Amtrak crash Sunday morning. Two people – the train’s conductor and engineer – were killed, and more than 100 were rushed to area hospitals.
