Two people killed in a crash on Tuesday in Lexington County that also left four others injured were identified by the county coroner.
Gary W. McDonald, 60, and Henry Trey King, 20, both of Gaston, were killed on Tuesday when the vehicle they were traveling in was struck on the side while attempting to avoid a head-on crash with another, said Lexington Coroner Margaret Fisher in a news release.
Fisher said a vehicle in the 2900 block of Sharpes Hill Road was attempting to pass another, when it drove into the path of McDonald and King’s vehicle. While attempting to avoid that vehicle, theirs was hit. McDonald nor King were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, Fisher said.
The driver and three passengers in the other vehicle were rushed to a hospital. Their conditions remain unknown. At least one person reportedly had “serious” injuries, said S.C. Highway Patrol lance Cpl. David Jones.
Never miss a local story.
The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol, Fisher said.
