Richland County deputies are investigating what led up to the shooting of two individuals Thursday morning near an apartment complex known to house University of South Carolina students.
Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a Richland County Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said deputies responded to a local hospital in reference to two people with gunshot wounds to the upper body.
When deputies arrived, Lawrence said a woman who drove the victims to the hospital told deputies that the victims were near the Copper Beech apartment complex, located just off Bluff Road and a few miles from USC’s campus, when they were shot. She then drove them to the hospital to receive treatment.
Lawrence said their injuries do not appear to be life threatening, but the victims are also being uncooperative with investigators.
