Birmingham mayor to attend Columbia reception for civil rights exhibit

A reception is set for Tuesday for the National Civil Rights traveling exhibit, “50 Years Forward,” at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

Birmingham, Ala., Mayor William A. Bell is among guests expected at the event, presented by Columbia SC 63. Columbia is one of seven Southern cities marking the 50th anniversary of key civil rights events in 1963.

The event is from 6-8 p.m. at the center, 1101 Lincoln St.

The exhibit, “50 Years Forward,” will be at the center through Oct. 30.
