A Columbia man was charged Saturday following the Friday night hit-and-run accident that left a state highway maintenance worker dead.
Ray Pickett, 59, was taken into custody on Saturday. He was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Saturday night.
Paul Lewis Fee, 57, of Winnsboro, was working outside his truck at Farrow Road and I-77 at about 8:30 p.m. Friday when he was hit by a 1984 Ford truck whose driver ran from the scene on foot, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Fee died early Saturday at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital, according to Richland Coroner Gary Watts.

The accident remains under investigation, Watts said in a news release.
