Richland County sheriff's deputies are requesting the public's assistance in locating the suspect of an armed robbery that happened early Tuesday morning at a bank along Two Notch Road.
Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a department spokesman, said a black, male suspect entered the Wells Fargo bank near the corner of Decker Boulevard and Two Notch Road at 10:30 a.m. and demanded the cashier to give him money. As the cashier began to walk away, the suspect brandished a handgun that was located in his waistband.
Lawrence said the cashier then complied with the suspect and placed an undisclosed amount of money in the bag. The suspect then fled from the bank on foot in an unknown direction before sheriff's deputies could arrive. Richland County community action teams, K-9 units and investigators are still searching for the suspect.
Lawrence said he was not sure when or if the bank would be reopened today, and sheriff's deputies will remain on scene for now. There were no injuries reported during the robbery.
Anyone with information regarding the incident should call Crime Stoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.
