A Rock Hill mother was arrested Thursday after police say she spanked her two daughters with an electrical cord.
On Sept. 24, police were sent to Deanne Rachelle Adams’ Market Place apartment off Heckle Boulevard after the York County office of the Department of Social Services said they received a call about two children at school with bruises, according to a Rock Hill police report.
A DSS case agent told police that the oldest daughter, 7, suffered a bruise below her left eye and her younger sister, 5, suffered a bruise on her left collar bone, the report states. Police spoke with both children, who told officers that their mother had hit them with an extension cord.
Adams, 23, told police that the children lied to her so she ordered them to find “an item” so she could spank them, the report states. One of the girls brought back an extension cord, and Adams used it to spank them.
DSS placed the children in temporary foster care while police completed an investigation. Adams is charged with two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child. She was released from jail on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
