Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the person killed in a two-vehicle crash on Longtown Road in upper Richland County Tuesday evening.
Melvin James Bell, 75, of Blythewood, was the driver and only occupant of a vehicle that was struck around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the S.C. Highway Patrol said Bell was attempting to exit a private driveway on Longtown Road around 5:30 p.m. when a 2007 Cadillac SUV hit his vehicle on the left side.
The SUV was being driven by Leroy Green, 60, also of Blythewood.
Both were transported to Palmetto Health Richland. Green suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Jones said.
Bell died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
