A 17-year-old boy was shot in the upper body when a suspect opened fire into a vehicle late Monday evening.
Sgt. Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department said the incident — at the corner of Blair Road and Aster Street, between Williams-Brice Stadium and Interstate 77 — happened around 11:30 p.m.
Wilson said the teenager and two females were sitting in the vehicle when a suspect fired several times, striking the teenager. The two females were not injured.
The 17-year-old, whose condition was unavailable, was transported to Palmetto Health Richland.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
