A Chesnee teen is in jail after deputies say she stabbed her mother in the face with a pair of scissors.

Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Samantha Kay Young, 17, of 580 Jonas Circle, on a charge of assault and battery high and aggravated Thursday afternoon.

According to an incident report, Young's mother was working in their kitchen, and she dropped a pair of scissors, which Young's daughter picked up. Young noticed the scissors in the toddler's hands and took them away. She is then accused of stabbing her mother with the scissors just below the left eye.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and treated Young's mother for injuries, the report states.

Young told deputies she had become angry when she noticed her daughter walking around with a pair of scissors. She admitted to the assault and told deputies she suffers from borderline personality disorder, according to the report.

Young was being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Facility on $15,000 bond Friday.
