The murder case involving an Irmo-area bookie will get a national audience Saturday when CBS’ “48 Hours” broadcasts an hour-long documentary.
The 2012 double murder of Tammy Jo Parker and Bryan Capnerhurst was one of the Midlands most notorious “whodunits.” And Brett Parker’s murder trial last summer gripped the Midlands with its stories of violence, sports gambling and marital affairs.
Richard Schlesinger, who will host Saturday night’s broadcast, said those same elements attracted his news team to the story. A highlight of the broadcast is an interview with Brooke Parker, the couple’s 15-year-old daughter who testified in her father’s defense.
“People in Columbia are not very different from people all over the country,” Schlesinger said.
The episode, titled “Bad Bet,” airs at 10 p.m. Saturday on WLTX (Channel 19).
