Stanley Jones, 26, wanted for murder, three counts of armed robbery, two counts of kidnapping, assault and burglary; was arrested Tuesday in Norfolk Virginia by the City of Norfolk Police Department Fugitive Team.
Sheriff Lott said Jones was caught in a Norfolk Virginia hotel after investigators received several tips from the community. Jones was arrested without incident, Sheriff Lott said.
Jones is accused of committing several violent crimes beginning in December 2013.
Sheriff Lott said Jones used a knife, pistol and shotgun to victimize citizens and businesses in connection with seven incidents that occurred in Richland County, the City of Columbia and Forest Acres.
Jones, along with an unknown suspect, is accused of kicking in the door of a home at 8185 Brookfield Road midday on Feb. 4.
Sheriff Lott said Jones shot a male resident in the upper body upon entering the home.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts later identified the victim, who was taken to Palmetto Health Richland and died Feb. 25 as 29-year-old Tresvon Coker.
Coroner Watts said Coker died from complications of a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Sheriff Lott said Jones, who went to the home specifically to steal money and drugs, was captured on outside video surveillance.
Jones is also accused of breaking into a home at 3432 Woodbranch Road around 11 a.m. Jan. 9 by throwing an object through the rear kitchen window.
According to Sheriff Lott, Jones stole a wallet and the outside video surveillance camera. Jones damaged a chair outside the home, and smashed a window pane Sheriff Lott said.
Around 9:40 p.m. Feb. 15, Sheriff Lott said Jones entered the Dollar General at 6238 Two Notch Road, put a knife to a store employee’s throat and robbed the store.
Sheriff Lott said Jones robbed three businesses in the City of Columbia during February 2014.
