Eight people were arrested Tuesday and charged on 34 counts, including drug trafficking, selling firearms and attempted murder, after a nearly year-long investigation, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
In a raid police called “Operation Poison Oak,” officials seized seven guns, $5,000 worth of crack cocaine, 455 pills and 5 grams of marijuana and more than $3,600 in cash.
The group of “high level drug dealers” had been under investigation in the area for several months, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
“These gentlemen were in an enterprise, so to speak. They were working with one another,” said Lt. Mike Ligon with York County’s Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit, which worked with officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, State Law Enforcement Division and Rock Hill and Clover police to raid six homes in Clover’s Oakridge community.

During the investigation, undercover officers were able to purchase “large amounts of crack cocaine, marijuana and firearms.” Many of the suspects were armed during drug deals.
“During every drug transaction that went on there, the people either had guns on them, or guns were in the residence laying out in plain view,” Ligon said.
Those arrested were: Michael Bigger, Jordan Carothers, Travis Lowery, Robert Lowery, Della Sanders, Jean Lowery, Jarrod Sanders and Charles Bigger.
An additional 32 warrants were issued for other suspects associated with this case.
