Forest Acres police hope the public can help them identify the man who, armed with a hand gun, broke into an apartment early Thursday morning, tied up a female juvenile and assaulted a woman living there.

The attack at the Brickyard Condominiums at 4443 Bethel Church Road occurred shortly before 7 a.m. , police chief Gene Sealy said in a release.

The suspect reportedly took several items from the home before fleeing. Although Forest Acres police searched the area with the help of Richland County Sheriff’s Department K-9 units, the trail was lost.

The man was described as an Hispanic male with a scraggly beard and wire rimmed glasses, between 30-35 years old, standing 5 feet 9 to 11 inches tall with a prominent neck tattoo. He was last seen wearing a garnet hoodie with South Carolina written on it.

Anyone with information about who this man might be is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, text CRIMES (274637) and mark the beginning of the message with “TIPSC” followed by the tip information, or log onto www.midlandscrimestoppers.com and click on the red “Submit a tip” tab.
