Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a Saturday shooting incident on Harden Street in Five Points that left one man shot in the leg.
Jacob O’Nay Green, 23, is charged with two counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawful carrying of a handgun. Green was arrested at an apartment complex on Riverwind Drive around noon Monday.
Shante Lavontay Tabor, 24, is charged with accessory after the fact of a felony.
The shooting was not a random act of violence, according to a press release from the Columbia Police Department.
Green is charged with shooting at a moving car after getting into a physical altercation with the victim at 818 Harden St. He is accused of following the victim and his acquaintance and firing multiple shots at a moving vehicle.
A male victim was shot in the leg, but the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
According to the release, Tabor witnessed the shooting but did not notify police, and gave false information to police when questioned about the incident.
Two other persons of interest in connection with the investigation have been identified and located by CPD.
The incident happened around 12:45 a.m. Saturday when witnesses reported seeing an argument between the victim and alleged shooter.
An acquaintance of one of the men pulled him away from the fight, witnesses said. The two ran to a parking lot across the street, got into a vehicle and tried to leave the scene.
The shooter is believed to have then fired several shots at the moving vehicle and hitting the victim in the leg. The driver of the car took the victim to a local hospital.
