CPD: Investigators working to ID suspect following bomb threat

Columbia's courthouse was evacuated this morning following a bomb threat, according to city officials on social media.

Emergency crews have cleared the area around the City of Columbia courthouse following a bomb threat Tuesday morning, according to Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons.

The scene was cleared about noon Tuesday after investigators found nothing hazardous, Timmons said.

Police say investigators are now working to identify a suspect.

The building had been evacuated after a bomb threat was called in around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Washington Street between Park and Gadsden streets have reopened, and court is resuming, according to Timmons.

The streets were closed while officers searched the building.

The city police department's Twitter account shortly before 11 a.m. tweeted:
