3 arrested after meth lab fire injures 6-year-old

Three people have been arrested after a fire started while they were cooking meth in a home with children present, according to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell.

Three people have been arrested after a fire started while they were cooking meth in a home with children present, according to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell.

Aleia Maria Herndon, 30, of Bonneau was arrested on four counts of unlawful neglect of child or helpless person and one count for manufacture, distribution, etc. of methamphetamine, 1st; Thomas Edward McArdle, 33, of Bowman was arrested on three counts of unlawful neglect of child or helpless person, and one count for manufacture, distribution, etc. of methamphetamine, 1st; and Angelica Marie Williams, 24, of Eutawville, was arrested on four counts of unlawful neglect of child or helpless person.

“Officers were called to 107 Cypress Shore in Eutawville around 6:45 p.m. April 7 in reference to a fire in a camper, which was caused by a hot plate,” Sheriff Ravenell said.

The Fire Deparment did not find a hot plate in the camper, but did find components used for cooking meth, Ravenell said.

“Four children were in the home at the time of the fire,” Ravenell said. “A six-year-old was injured.”
