A 24-year-old Lexington man was arrested Sunday in connection with break-ins of seven vehicles, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday.

Thomas Matthew Judy, of Leafy Bend Court, is charged with seven counts of breaking into a motor vehicle, seven counts of petit larceny and one count of auto tampering.

Arrest warrants allege the suspect unlawfully entered seven vehicles parked outside homes on Willow Forks Road and Firbough Court near Lexington and took several items, among them electronic tools, GPS devices, and an iPod, Sheriff James Metts said.

An off-duty deputy spotted a man running along Firbough Court about 8:56 p.m. Sunday and learned items had been taken from a car there, Metts said. The deputy held the suspect until other deputies arrived, the sheriff said, adding some items taken from the Firbough Court vehicle were found in the suspect’s possession.

Judy was being held Monday at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
