A state agency contractor has been charged with breach of trust, according to the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
Edwina Perteich Jackson, 39, of Columbia, was arrested Wednesday and charged with Breach of Trust with fraudulent intent, value $10,000 or more in connection with unauthorized use of state funds.
The Department of Disabilities and Special Needs contracted with New Beginnings Family Services in 2009 to provide and support employment services, according to SLED. Jackson served as CEO of New Beginnings Family Services at the time.
Authorities say an audit of the program’s operating account showed invoices with payments to Jackson for personal expenses of more than $10,000.
If convicted, Jackson could face up to 10 years in prison. She was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
