A 24-year-old Kershaw County man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl, according to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Grant Adam Helms Jr. was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11.
The Sheriff’s Office received information earlier this year that Helms had sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl in Kershaw, Sheriff Jim Matthews said.
“Investigators also learned that Helms had sexually assaulted the same girl on another occasion within the same 24-hour time period at the same location,” Matthews said.
An investigator interviewed Helms who ultimately admitted to the allegations, Matthews said.
Helms is awaiting a bond hearing at the Kershaw County Detention Center.
According to Matthews, Helms has no previous arrest record.
