Authorities in Sumter are looking for a 17-year-old after shots were fired at an SUV traveling through a South Sumter neighborhood.
Dominik Dingle is wanted by police on attempted murder, tampering with evidence and unlawful carrying of a weapon charges following the shooting incident at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Dingle was identified by witnesses as the intended target in the incident, according to the Sumter Police Department. However, police say Dingle was not a victim but the suspect in the case.
Video footage from a home surveillance system shows the suspect running toward a passing SUV and firing a weapon several times, according to Sumter Police Chief Russell F. Roark III.
Roark said the man is later seen returning to the site of the shooting and picking up spent shell casings and disgarding them.
Police say several shootings in South Sumter since January involve some of the same individuals and are drug-related.
“These acts are not random,” Roark said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or the Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700.
