A 21-year-old Lexington County man has been arrested in Fort Worth, Texas, on charges that he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.
Luis Gerardo Montiel was arrested Friday in Texas on four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child.
Lexington County deputies say Montiel is accused of sexually assaulting the victim on four occasions between February 28 and April 5 at a Lexington home.
The girl’s mother reported the assaults in May, according to Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts.
Deputies say Montiel told the victim not to discuss the assaults with anyone because he could be arrested.
Montiel fled to Fort Worth because he has relatives there, Metts said.
Metts said Montiel is being held at the Tarrant County Correction Center in Fort Worth.
He waived extradition and will be returned to Lexington County, Metts said.
