Columbia man killed Thursday in Lexington County car crash

A 22-year-old Columbia man was killed near Lexington on Thursday when the car he was driving veered over the center line on SC 6 and ran into another vehicle.
The collision occurred at 12:35 pm on South Lake Drive (SC-6) about 4 miles east of Lexington. A 2002 Saturn traveling west of S. Lake Drive crossed the center lane, running head-on into a 2005 Chevy van. The driver of the Saturn, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to a local hospital where he died, Lance Crpl David Jones of the SC Highway Patrol said. The driver of the van, a 37-year-old resident of Lexington, was wearing a seat belt. She was also taken to a local hospital. Her condition is not known.
SC Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
