A tense standoff led to a rerouting of traffic near Brennen and Trenholm roads Tuesday night, as Columbia police negotiated with an armed person barricaded in a house near that location.
The individual, whose identification was not available Tuesday night, later was found in the home with “what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said on the department’s Twitter account. The Richland County coroner was called to the scene.
Police got the call about an armed person barricaded in a home around 7 p.m., Timmons said. Other details were not available Tuesday night.
