Hopkins woman shot in domestic dispute, suspect captured

A man was charged with attempted murder after a shooting about 11:30 p.m. Sunday on S. Partridge Circle in Hopkins.
William McLaughlin, 48, was arrested by Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies after a woman was shot in the upper body. She was able to provide a description of the suspect and deputies found McLaughlin nearby. The woman was transported to Palmetto Health Richland hospital for treatment. Her condition was not immediately available.
According to a sheriff’s department spokesman, the two were living together and the shooting followed a verbal altercation.
