ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) – A South Carolina man is jailed in Buncombe County on a felony bigamy charge.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that a warrant at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office says 32-year-old Michael Dean Duncan of Ladson, South Carolina, was charged Monday.
According to the warrant, Duncan is accused of marrying a Moncks Corner, South Carolina, woman while still being married to another woman. He was charged in Asheville because it was the location of the second marriage. The warrant says the new wife brought the complaint, and Buncombe sheriff’s officers investigated.
Duncan is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $5,000 secured bond. It wasn’t immediately known if Duncan has an attorney.
