The parents of an infant boy face charges of unlawful conduct and inflicting harm on a child after giving him nothing but water for nearly a week, Richland County deputies said Friday.
Samuel Green, 20, and Ashley Cheatham, 22, were taken into custody after bringing their 2-month-old son to Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital last weekend when the infant suffered seizures.
The pair told deputies they lacked money to buy milk or food for the baby, according to an incident report.
Deputies were called to investigate suspected neglect.
Care of the child has been turned over to social workers.
