A man who robbed a Waffle House at gunpoint earlier in July and who was charged as recently as Saturday with a second robbery, has now been arrested for multiple armed robberies across the Midlands, police say.

Rashaud Lee, 21, who was arrested after robbing the Waffle House on Airport Boulevard July 12, has been charged with multiple armed robberies in Richland and Lexington counties, Cayce and Columbia, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said in a statement released Tuesday.

Lee would enter restaurants and either fire a round into the ceilings of those businesses he was robbing or would point a gun at employees and demand money, Lott said.

In addition to robbing the Waffle House, Lee is charged with robbing a Sonic on Broad River Road on July 6 and a Rush’s, also on Broad River Road, on July 9. Lee is charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, and two counts of kidnapping in those incidents, Lott said.

In addition, Lee is responsible for robbing a Wendy’s in the Harbison area and another Waffle House in Lexington County, Lott said.

Forensics experts were able to match a gun in Lee’s possession to the robberies.

He is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center with additional charges forthcoming, Lott said.
