The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man charged with attempted burglary Wednesday.
Sheriff Leon Lott said Joshua M. Lucas, 20, turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Department Headquarters at 2:15 a.m. after seeing himself on the news.
Lucas was suspected of vandalizing a business early Monday on Parklane Road near the Columbia Place Mall.
Surveillance video shows Lucas at the AM/PM Food Mart at 7230 Parklane Road around 4:30 a.m on Monday.
After climbing onto the roof of the convenience store and cutting surveillance camera wires, he returned to the ground and tried to kick in the front door. Failing that, he tried to break through a side door with an object but fled when this attempt failed, too.
Lucas has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
