Two West Columbia men were charged Friday following the early morning armed robbery of the Kangaroo Express convenience store at 3527 Charleston Highway, a business that one of the suspects regularly patronized.
Patrick Laron Benn, 22, and Brad Deshawn Harris, 17, allegedly donned bandanas to cover their faces and entered the store around 3:19 am on Friday, threatened the clerk with a handgun and demanded cash and cigarettes.
The robbers left the store with $53 in cash and 10 packs of Newport cigarettes, Lexington County Sheriff A. Lewis McCarty said in a news release. Harris, McCarty said, was identified as a regular shopper at the store.
Both men were tracked down to their homes and arrested. They were being held at the Lexington County Detention Center Friday night.
