A man spent his 37th birthday crashing a Ford pickup into parked cars and a house in the Rosewood neighborhood, according to Columbia police.

Residents were home at the time of the 1 a.m. incident, but no one was reported injured, police said. Jeffery Lacortiglia was less than one hour into his birthday when he lost control of a 2012 Ford F-150 and plowed into a home along the 900 block of Laurie Lane.

Lacortiglia -- born Aug. 3, 1977 -- also hit two parked cars and struck a telephone pole before crashing the pickup into the brick house, according to police department spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons.

He was taken to the Richland County jail and the incident remains under investigation, she said.
