Richland County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a suspect accused of attempted armed robbery.
The suspect entered the Kangaroo Express at 806 Broad River Road around 2:30 a.m. July 26 and attempted to steal money, Sheriff Leon Lott said.
“The suspect was captured on video surveillance equipment attempting to steal money while brandishing a knife,” Lott said.
The suspect pretended to purchase an item then reached over the counter to steal money once the cash register was open, Lott said.
Lott said the employee was able to close the register before the suspect could steal any money.
The suspect then pulled out a knife and threatened the employee, Lott said.
“The victim feld to the rear office and called police, and the suspect fled the area,” Lott said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
