A man involved in an alleged armed robbery Sunday morning has been identified by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Lt. Curtis Wilson, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said Christopher Davis, 35, has been charged with convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of body armor and two counts of armed robbery - one count with a deadly weapon.

Wilson also said Jahwayne Alexander, 23, was detained for questioning in connection with the robbery.

Wilson said deputies responded to a shots fired call at the 400 block of Durant Street at 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Deputies spoke with two victims who said they were assaulted by Davis and another man who approached them armed with a handgun and a shotgun demanding money.

Davis and the other man then fled the area in a green SUV, firing a shot into the air, according to Wilson.

One victim said he observed the men crash their vehicle on Camp Ground Road before fleeing on foot, according to Wilson.

Sheriff’s deputies then responded to a suspicious person call near the 100 block of Gloria Trail where the two men were knocking on residents’ doors and ringing doorbells, according to Wilson.

Wilson said officers responding to that area located Davis who fit the identity of the man involved in the earlier armed robbery.

Davis was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
