Aiken police have arrested the man who made a false report regarding a missing mountain lion from a pet store on Sunday.
Billy J. Lunsford, 55, was arrested on Monday and has been charged with providing false information to a public safety officer when he told authorities that a black, 100 pound mountain lion, last seen wearing a dog harness, was missing from a pet store in Aiken County.
Lunsford’s false information prompted authorities to tell residents in the area to be cautious about the missing animal.
Lunsford is currently being held in the Aiken County Detention Center.
