The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the community’s help in identifying a suspect wanted for larceny.
The suspect is accused of stealing the wallet of a man who stopped at an area convenience store just after 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15, Lott said in a statement released Friday.
The man dropped the wallet just inside the Food Fair on Hunt Club Road but then returned moments later after realizing what had happened.
The suspect was caught on the store’s security camera picking up the wallet and stealing the victim’s social security card, identification and cash, Lott said.
He is described as a black male, medium to heavy build, wearing a short-sleeved white dress shirt, black pants and black shoes.
Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or his location is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
